India’s Q2 FY27 earnings season reaches its busiest stretch this week, with L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Hindustan Unilever, IndiGo and Sun Pharma among the companies scheduled between Monday, 26 October and Friday, 30 October 2026. Here are the dates, what to read first in each filing, and where to confirm every date.
Quick answer

In plain words: Q2 FY27 means the July to September 2026 quarter of financial year 2026-27. YoY compares with the same quarter a year ago. QoQ compares with the previous quarter. EBITDA is operating profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation. A “board meeting date” is the day a company’s directors approve the results.
Data note: Figures are as of Monday, 26 October 2026, 5:20 PM IST unless another time is stated. Dates come from three news calendars that compile exchange board-meeting intimations (Goodreturns, Upstox and Kalkine), and a name appears in the tables only when at least two of them list it on the same day. Market figures come from the 26 October close reports of HDFC Sky and Business Standard. Early results come from Business Standard reports of company filings. Calendar dates are secondary and can change, so confirm each one on BSE or NSE.

Where do the calendars disagree?
News calendars are built from board-meeting notices, and notices change. These are the conflicts I found, so you can check them first.
- Coal India and Godrej Consumer: one calendar lists both on Wednesday, 28 October and Thursday, 29 October. Another shows 29 October only, which the tables use.
- Single-source names: Meesho (28 October), Suzlon, Pine Labs (29 October), Laurus Labs (29 October) and NTPC Green Energy (30 October) appear in only one calendar each, so they are not in the tables.
- Saturday, 31 October: one calendar lists NTPC and NSDL. No second source shows it yet.
- Tata Motors: one headline names Tata Motors, but it is missing from that article’s day lists. A separate report says its commercial vehicle business already reported on 23 October.
- Older lists: a calendar published on 15 October shows fewer companies for 26 and 27 October than later lists, because it was written before later notices.
How to confirm a date: open the BSE website or the NSE website, go to corporate announcements, and search the company for “board meeting”. The notice states the date and, often, the time.

What have the first Q2 FY27 results shown so far?
Early results are mixed: profits jumped at JSW Steel, Shriram Finance and AU Small Finance Bank, while Dr Reddy’s and BPCL reported lower profits. The figures below are as reported by Business Standard from company filings.
| Company | Reported | Headline result |
|---|---|---|
| Infosys | 23 Oct | Net profit up 6.2% to Rs 7,828 crore. Revenue up 10.7% to Rs 49,244 crore. FY27 revenue forecast cut. |
| JSW Steel | 23 Oct | Net profit up 225.3% to Rs 5,279 crore on volumes, prices and costs. |
| Dr Reddy’s Laboratories | 23 Oct | Net profit down 36% to Rs 925 crore. Revenue down 1.5% to Rs 8,670.8 crore. |
| IndusInd Bank | 23 Oct | Net profit Rs 1,242 crore, against a loss of Rs 437 crore a year earlier. |
| Shriram Finance | 23 Oct | Consolidated net profit up 59% to Rs 3,684 crore. |
| AU Small Finance Bank | 24 Oct | Net profit up 53% to Rs 858 crore. |
| BPCL | 23 Oct | Net profit down 22.5% as a retail price freeze weighed on operating earnings. |
| Indian Overseas Bank | 26 Oct | Net profit up 56% to Rs 1,912 crore. |
Two patterns stand out. At Infosys, revenue grew faster than profit, and the market reacted to the forecast cut: the stock fell about 4% on Monday. At Dr Reddy’s, profit fell far more than revenue, yet the stock was a top Nifty gainer on Monday. A headline number alone does not decide the reaction. Our Infosys Q2 FY27 results page shows how to read an IT filing in detail.
What should you read first in each sector’s Q2 results?
Each sector has two or three numbers that explain the quarter better than profit alone. This is the PositionalCalls results-reading map for the names reporting this week.
| Sector | Names this week | Read first | Plain meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autos | Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, Hyundai Motor India | Volumes, realisation, EBITDA margin | Realisation is the average selling price per vehicle. |
| Banks and NBFCs | Bank of Baroda, Bandhan Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Tata Capital, Chola | NIM, GNPA, credit growth, credit cost | NIM is net interest margin. GNPA is gross bad loans as a share of loans. |
| Insurers | SBI Life, Star Health | VNB margin (life), combined ratio (health) | VNB is value of new business. A combined ratio under 100% means an underwriting profit. |
| FMCG and consumer | HUL, Tata Consumer, Godrej Consumer, Varun Beverages, Asian Paints | Underlying volume growth, gross margin | Volume growth strips out price rises. |
| Oil, gas and power | Indian Oil, GAIL, IGL, Coal India | Refining and marketing margin, gas volumes | Marketing margin is profit on retail fuel sales. |
| Metals and mining | Tata Steel, SAIL, Vedanta | Realisation per tonne, EBITDA per tonne, net debt | EBITDA per tonne shows profit on each tonne sold. |
| Pharma | Cipla, Sun Pharma, Mankind | US sales, India growth, margin | US sales are exposed to price erosion and the rupee. |
| Capital goods and defence | L&T, BEL, Mazagon Dock | Order inflow, order book, execution | Order book is work won but not yet billed. |
| Aviation | IndiGo | Yield, load factor, fuel cost | Yield is revenue per passenger kilometre. |

How do crude oil and the rupee touch this week’s results?
Brent crude near $114.50 a barrel and a rupee at 95.19 per dollar shape costs and reported revenue across several sectors. Brent had eased from a near six-month high of $117, according to HDFC Sky. This is context, not a forecast.
| Area | Link to results | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Airlines (IndiGo) | Fuel is a major cost item | Fuel cost per seat kilometre and any comment on pricing |
| Oil marketing (Indian Oil) | Retail prices and crude drive marketing margin | Marketing margin. BPCL reported a 22.5% profit fall as a retail price freeze weighed on earnings |
| Paints and chemicals (Asian Paints, Pidilite) | Raw materials track crude | Gross margin against the year-ago quarter |
| Exporters (Cipla, Sun Pharma, IT) | A weaker rupee lifts rupee revenue | Growth in constant currency, so currency does not hide the real trend |
| Autos and consumer | Input costs and fuel prices affect demand | Commentary on volumes and discounts |
How do you read a Q2 result in five minutes? Three worked examples
Start with revenue, EBITDA and net profit, compare each with the year-ago quarter, then check the margin. The five steps are below, followed by arithmetic on results already filed.
- Find the three headline numbers: Revenue from operations, EBITDA (operating profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) and net profit, from the filing’s first page.
- Compare with the year-ago quarter: Year-on-year (YoY) growth removes seasonality, so it is the main comparison for autos, FMCG, cement and retail.
- Compare with the previous quarter: Quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) shows momentum, but festive and monsoon effects can distort it.
- Check the margin: Divide EBITDA or net profit by revenue. A rising profit with a falling margin means growth is costing more.
- Look for one-offs and read the commentary: Exceptional items, tax write-backs and fair-value gains can move profit without changing the business. Management commentary explains the quarter.
| Example | Reported | Working (my calculation) | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infosys revenue and profit | Revenue Rs 49,244 crore, up 10.7%. Net profit Rs 7,828 crore, up 6.2%. | Year-ago revenue = 49,244 divided by 1.107. Year-ago profit = 7,828 divided by 1.062. Margin = 7,828 divided by 49,244. | Year-ago revenue about Rs 44,484 crore. Year-ago profit about Rs 7,371 crore. Net margin about 15.9%. |
| Dr Reddy’s revenue and profit | Revenue Rs 8,670.8 crore, down 1.5%. Net profit Rs 925 crore, down 36%. | Year-ago revenue = 8,670.8 divided by 0.985. Year-ago profit = 925 divided by 0.64. Margin = 925 divided by 8,670.8. | Year-ago revenue about Rs 8,802.8 crore. Year-ago profit about Rs 1,445.3 crore. Net margin about 10.7%. |
| IndusInd Bank swing | Net profit Rs 1,242 crore against a loss of Rs 437 crore. | Percentage growth is not meaningful on a loss base, so use the rupee swing: 1,242 minus (-437). | A swing of Rs 1,679 crore. |
| Indian Overseas Bank | Net profit Rs 1,912 crore, up 56%. | Year-ago profit = 1,912 divided by 1.56. | Year-ago profit about Rs 1,226 crore. |
Cite this table: PositionalCalls Worked Growth Examples, Q2 FY27, as of Monday, 26 October 2026, 5:20 PM IST.
Notice what the Infosys numbers say: profit grew about 6.2% while revenue grew 10.7%, so profit grew more slowly than sales. At Dr Reddy’s, a 1.5% revenue dip became a 36% profit fall, which means costs or one-offs mattered more than sales. Always check the cause before reading meaning into a percentage.
What if the headline and the details disagree?
| Pattern | What it may mean | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue up, profit down | Costs rose faster than sales, or a one-off hit profit | EBITDA margin and exceptional items |
| Profit up sharply on a low or negative base | Growth percentage exaggerates the improvement | The rupee change and the previous quarter |
| Profit up, revenue flat | Cost cuts or higher other income | Other income, tax and operating profit |
What do most people miss when reading results week?
- Timing: many companies announce after market hours, so the price reaction often shows up the next trading day.
- Consolidated against standalone: headlines usually quote consolidated figures. A company can show growth in one and a fall in the other.
- Seasonality: for FMCG, autos, cement and retail, YoY is the better comparison. QoQ can mislead around festive demand.
- Dividends: a board often announces a dividend with results. The record date and ex-date decide who gets it, and trades settle on a T+1 cycle.
- Revisions: an old date can shift. Always read the latest board-meeting notice.
What do you need to follow Q2 results, and what does it cost?
Reading results costs nothing; you need only a browser and the exchange sites. If you invest around results, a few practical points apply.
- What you need: a demat account and broker app for trading, plus the free BSE and NSE announcement pages for filings.
- What it costs: check your broker’s current charges schedule. Brokerage, taxes and other charges reduce any gain.
- Tax angle: dividends and capital gains are taxed under current rules. See our capital gains tax on shares guide, or ask a tax adviser.
- Alternatives: if single-stock results feel too risky, diversified mutual funds are an option to compare on cost and risk.
- Scam warning: fake results tips on WhatsApp or Telegram, links asking for OTPs, and “guaranteed results-day profit” offers are common. Never share an OTP or pay for tips.
What is the results-week checklist?
- Confirm each date on the BSE or NSE board-meeting notice.
- Note whether results arrive during or after market hours.
- Compare revenue, EBITDA and net profit with the year-ago quarter first.
- Check the sector metric in the reading map above.
- Look for one-off items and read the management commentary.
- Check whether a dividend is declared and note the record date.
- Match consolidated figures to consolidated, and standalone to standalone.
- Write your own plan before the market opens, rather than reacting to a headline.
What are the risks and common mistakes in results week?
Analyst’s note: how to use this calendar
- What stands out: Tuesday and Wednesday put autos, FMCG, capital goods, insurers and metals on the same two days, which makes cross-sector comparison easy.
- Easy to miss: the first wave shows mixed outcomes, so an early beat in one sector says little about another.
- What would change the view: a date shift, a surprise dividend, or guidance that differs from the headline.
- Plain caution: do not treat a calendar as a trading signal. It tells you when numbers arrive, not what they will say.
- Reader action: pick two or three companies you follow, confirm their dates, and write down the one metric you will check.
What is the bottom line on Q2 results this week?

Under Regulation 33 of the SEBI listing rules, listed companies must publish quarterly results within 45 days of the quarter ending. For the quarter ended 30 September 2026, that works out to 14 November 2026 (my calculation).
Where can I check the official date of a company’s Q2 results?
Check the company’s board meeting intimation on the BSE or NSE corporate announcements section, or the investor page of the company. News calendars are compiled from these filings and can lag when a date changes.
What does Q2 FY27 mean?
Q2 FY27 is the July to September 2026 quarter of financial year 2026-27, which runs from April 2026 to March 2027. Companies compare it with the year-ago quarter (Q2 FY26) and with the previous quarter (Q1 FY27).
How do I read a Q2 result quickly?
Compare revenue, EBITDA margin and net profit with the year-ago quarter first, then with the previous quarter. Next, look for one-off items and read the management commentary. Growth on a very small or negative base can look larger than it is.
